Whether you are studying how policy impacts citizens on a broad scale or how the government enforces the law, your choice of career can have a resounding impact on your community. With this in mind, we know that it takes ambition to pursue a degree in political science or criminal justice.

At Ramsell & Kunowski, L.L.C., we want to pave the way for future investigators, politicians, lawyers, and other policy shapers. We created the $1000 Power of Change Scholarship for current university students majoring in political science and criminal justice.

On this page, interested students can learn about the eligibility requirements and submit an application. The deadline for applications falls on November 24, 2025. For any inquiries, you can contact our scholarship team at scholarship@illinois-criminal-defense-attorney.com.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Power of Change Scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You must be majoring in political science or criminal justice.
  • You must be a current full-time student, or an incoming freshman, at an accredited university within the United States going into the Spring 2026 semester.
  • You must be at least 17 years old.
  • You must be a citizen of the United States.

Application Requirements

To apply, we ask that all applicants answer the following question in essay format of approximately 500 words:

Your response should be uploaded as a .pdf or .docx. Any essays under 400 words or over 600 words will be rejected. Additionally, please attach proof of your enrollment at an accredited school, such as a copy of your acceptance letter, class schedule, or unofficial transcript.

ESSAY PROMPT

What motivates you to study criminal justice or political science? What change do you hope to make to your community in your career?


Evaluation Criteria

Your essay will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Does your response completely address the prompt?
  • Is your essay organized with ideas clearly stated?
  • Do you elaborate on an actionable plan that will effect change in your career?

After evaluating all submissions, we will notify the winner of the scholarship approximately one month after the final deadline. The winner will receive a notifying email from our team.
